Eastern Testimony

In the first years of the newly formed Eastern Pennsylvania Mennonite Church, Aaron served as editor for their official publication, commonly referred to as The Testimony. During the five years while Aaron was the editor, the testimony went from 8 pages to 12 pages, most of which recorded the news of the fledgling conferring fellowship.

In these five years, Aaron wrote fifty editorials and articles. These are a lasting legacy that reflect how Aaron as well as the brothers who surrounded him met and overcame the challenges of their day. We can gain instruction and inspiration from their example.

Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth who humbleth himself to behold the things in heaven, and in earth! Psalm 113:5,6. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made himself of no reputation, and…
A number of years ago while in Atmore, Alabama, I went into the Post Office to secure some stamps and do some mailing. While I was addressing and stamping some envelopes a native of the community came to my table to also put the last touches on her envelopes for mailing. As I looked up I saw…
A one time composer of rock-n-roll music now has this to say about it. "I am especially concerned with the apathy of Christian parents in regard to rock and roll which is currently sweeping teenagers by the millions into drug addiction, sexual permissiveness, and revolution against authority." As…

And when we justify…
Some time ago I had the privilege of sitting in a meeting where the two speakers for the afternoon were giving their concluding messages from expositions on Ephesians 4 and John 17 respectively. Their "excellency of speech" on the unity of believers was unique and very persuasive and convincing to…
From a Bulletin of Vital Statistics issued quite a number of years ago by the Department of Commerce, Bureau of Census, Washington D.C. we are informed that in 1901 there were almost 61,000 divorces granted in America. In 1941 the number reached 264,000 — an increase from 1901 of about 450%. During…
In this issue of the EMT we share a goodly number of Bible Conference programs to be held this spring and summer in many of our churches, and at the Numidia Bible School. We believe that the Old Fashion Bible Conference is still one of the best and most effective means of deepening Christian…
There was a great deal of excitement in the local area when the first "sheaf' of the resurrection harvest was waved over Jerusalem. See Leviticus 23:10, 11) Jesus of Nazereth, the Son of the Highest, had been a victim of gossip, slander, ridicule, misunderstanding false accusation, unfair judgment…
There are many ways in which the birth of Jesus Christ was similar to the birth of any other human being. He was conceived in the womb of a human mother, He was given birth at the proper time in the normal manner, He entered the world physically helpless in need of loving hands to bundle Him in…
On Sunday afternoon, August 2 of this year, a number of hippies attended one session of the Young Peoples Institute at Shirksville, Lebanon County, Pa. These folks were a part bus load of 12 young men and women, ranging in ages from 18 - 25, who happened to get together and had formed some kind of…
